Mikron Tool CrazyDrill Cool XL
CrazyDrill Cool XL from Mikron Tool is a small, coated drill with a diameter range from 1 mm to 6 mm (.039” to .236”.)
It is available in drilling lengths of 15, 20 and 30 x d for drilling diameters of 1 mm (.039”) and up to 40 x d for drilling diameters of 2 mm (.078”) and up.
Because of its newly developed geometry, it meets conditions for drilling a deep hole perfectly and is an ideal alternative to a gundrill. The outcome is a tungsten carbide drill for steel that produces short chips in all steel alloys. This is an essential requirement for smooth chip removal in drilling depths of up to 40 x d.
CrazyDrill Cool XL is designed so that holes up to the maximum depths can be produced in one step without chip removal at the highest cutting speeds and feed rates. The through-coolant supply contributes to this and guarantees good cooling at the tip – hence longer tool life.
Additional Information
Thanks to the special design of the CrazyDrill Cool XL, chips do not coil up. The cutting speed and feed rate ratio has to be selected so that short chips are produced.
The two through-tool cooling channels, going all the way up to the drill tip, ensure constant cooling and simultaneously good chip removal. CrazyDrill Cool XL generally reaches the full drilling depth in one step (apart from titanium) and chip removal; therefore, is no longer required.
Targeted cutting-edge treatment before coating and the final polishing of drill flutes and tips ensure excellent cutting conditions and tool life.
