Burnishing Tools
ID and OD Rollers – Produce fine surface finishes and control size in ID and OD surfaces. They are easy to set for diameter with the micrometer adjustment nut. Roller burnishing is a chipless machining method which cold works the metal without cutting or abrading the surface. It doesn’t remove metal, but rather compresses or “irons out” the peaks of a metal surface into the valleys, generating a dense and uniform surface.
- Able to produce 2 to 8 microinch finishes (0.05-0.20 µm) in one pass
- Accurate sizing
- Fast cycle time
- Resistant to fatigue failure
- Corrosion resistant**Can be run on almost any machine tool. Either the tool or work piece can rotate. Flood coolant is required.**
Boring Bar Carbide-Roll – A versatile and high quality tool primarily designed for burnishing IDs, but capable of burnishing OD surfaces. It is also capable of producing surface finishes as low as 4 to 8 microinch. Carbide-roll burnishing tools follow a similar path as the cutting tool and at comparable speeds and feeds. Carbide rolls are available in four different radii: .031″, .062″, .093″ and .125″. Both inch and Metric size shanks are available.
- Able to produce 4 to 8 microinch finishes (0.13-0.20 µm) in one pass
- Reduces costs by eliminating secondary operations
- Economical tool life with carbide roll and roll reconditioning service
- Resistant to fatigue failure
- Corrosion resistant**Can be run on a manual lathe or CNC turning center. Flood coolant is highly recommended.**
Carbide-Roll – Capable of burnishing outside diameters, tapers, faces, fillet radii and spherical surfaces. The carbide-roll burnishing tool follows a similar path as the cutting tool and at comparable speeds and feeds. Carbide rolls are available in four different radii: .031″, .062″, .093″ and .125″. Both inch and Metric size shanks are available in left and right hand.

**Can be run on a manual lathe or CNC turning center. Flood coolant is highly recommended.**
Diamond Burnishing – A very economical tool for producing mirror-like surface finishes on machined surfaces. They are especially suited for shafts and can burnish flat face surfaces.
- Eliminates grinding and polishing
- Replaceable diamond stems
- Economical and user-friendly**Can be run on a manual lathe or CNC turning center. Available with either a 3/4″ and 1″ square shank. Flood coolant is required.**
